plonc. Rocks - Concluded Works
Inspired by the raw materiality of quarried stone, the plonc. Rocks series was authored as an early exploration into surface weight, tactility, and geological presence. These works do not reproduce stone but interpret its behaviour, its granular density, its quiet resistance, and its relationship to time.
Each surface was designed with restrained relief and mineral restraint, allowing texture to emerge through depth rather than pattern. The intention was grounding rather than spectacle, surfaces that settle into architecture rather than announce themselves.
As part of plonc.’s developing Intra-Tile Architecture, the Rocks series examined how subtle variation, erosion, and compression could be translated into porcelain without flattening their geological character. These were not decorative fields, but material studies in restraint, permanence, and calm mass.
The Rocks collection exists today only through its installed works. Production has concluded.
plonc. Rocks — Sands of Time
A soft beige-grey surface with subtle relief, echoing windswept earth and layered sediment formed through gradual erosion.
Material notes:
1200×600×9mm porcelain
Textured / structured surface

plonc. Rocks — Sandstone
A deeper charcoal field with silvery mineral highlights, referencing compressed sediment and exposed seams found in quarried sandstone.
Material notes:
1200×600×9mm porcelain
Textured / structured surface

plonc. Rocks — Manganese (Groote Eylandt, NT)
Warm, granular, and mineral-dense, this surface drew from manganese-rich stone and sun-baked earth, carrying the tonal weight of northern Australian landscapes.
