The Author
Every authored material begins long before it reaches porcelain.
It begins with observation.
For more than two decades, I worked across residential construction, renovation and architectural interiors, discovering that materials influence far more than appearance. They shape atmosphere, alter perception and quietly determine how a space is experienced.
What began as a fascination with stone, light and texture gradually became a lifelong investigation into material itself.
plonc. emerged from that investigation.
Not as another tile company, but as a studio dedicated to the authorship of architectural surfaces. Every collection begins with research into geological processes, natural landscapes and the forces that shape matter over time. Rather than reproducing existing materials, each work seeks to translate these observations into porcelain through relief, texture, tone and scale.
This approach became the foundation of Intra-Tile Architecture - the belief that surfaces should contribute to the architecture of a place rather than simply decorate it.
Today, the studio extends beyond authored porcelain.
Through the plonc. Library, the practice also brings together handmade ceramics, crafted objects, natural stone, timber and collaborations with artists and makers whose work shares a common respect for material, craftsmanship and enduring cultural value.
Every relationship within the studio is built through conversation, research and mutual respect. Whether developing new works with ceramic artists in Japan, exploring traditional craftsmanship in India, or authoring new porcelain investigations in Australia, the objective remains the same: to build a collection of materials that carry meaning beyond their function.
The work continues to evolve through ongoing material investigations, international collaborations and the belief that architecture deserves surfaces with authorship, permanence and depth.
plonc. is not simply a collection of products.
It is an evolving practice dedicated to understanding how materials shape the way we inhabit the world.
